Elementary School Apple Tastings

What better way to welcome kids back to school than with an apple tasting?!  Food Front is thrilled to be visiting Chapman, Hayhurst, Maplewood, Odyssey East Sylvan and Rieke schools this year!  We bring out 6 different varieties of apples for the kids to taste and find some new favorites.  After the tasting, the kids vote on their favorites and bring those results back to the classroom for math and science lessons.  We of course also take the opportunity to promote the co-op and invite the kids to bring their parents to our annual Harvest Festival and Apple Tasting at each of our stores which benefit Friendly House and Neighborhood House and will be held on October 9th from 11:00am-3:00pm.  Thank you kids!  It's such a joy to see you all learning about good local food!!

We all had a blast hosting the Slabtown Festival this year and can't wait to see you all next year!  Thank you everyone who came out for the event!

New this year: Food Front wants to thank you for your participation with a discount voucher for 15% off one shopping trip in July or August upon completion of our Owner survey and confirmation of your email address.  As was announced in the May Owner's Update, while we no longer offer quarterly owner discount months, we now have deeper discounts on weekly specials for owners only, have increased our special order case discount to 15% for owners, are adding special owner exclusive events (such as our recent Knife & Garden Tool Sharpening Event), and will be creating special owner appreciation offers (such as this 15% off voucher).

Tri Co-op Farm Tour

Spring Greens Cook’s Club Event, Sunday April 12th 4 - 5 pm NW Patio

Dear Cooks, Join us on the NW Store Patio to celebrate Spring on Sunday April 12th, 4 - 5pm.  Many of us have already been out in our gardens, but we suspect you might still have room for a few more starts!  Especially ones that can grow in a small pot.  So, we shopped Food Front’s great selection of Uprising Seeds, put them in pots with some water….and like magic, we are seeing the first leaves of lettuce, mesclun, edible flowers and basil emerge from the soil!  Weather willing, we expect to have starts to share, along with a discussion on the use of leafy greens & herbs in different world cuisines.

Please join us on the NW Store Patio Sunday April 12th 4 - 5pm to share your favorite ways to prepare greens and herb combinations.  And, please bring along one of your favorite recipes for the Food Front Cookbook.
